TDI Series Delayed Single Shot Timer Relay
Create one timed relay output after a selected delay. The TDI Series delayed single shot timer relay keeps the output OFF for T1 after an external isolated switch closes, then energizes it for T2 before switching OFF. Select TDI when a control sequence needs a waiting period followed by a timed output.
How TDI delayed single shot timing works
- Keep the selected supply voltage continuously applied to the timer input.
- Close the external isolated control switch, momentarily or continuously, to start the OFF delay (T1).
- When T1 ends, the relay energizes and the ON period (T2) begins. When T2 ends, the relay de-energizes and the cycle is complete.
Resetting for the next cycle
After the timing cycle has completed, reclose the control switch to start another cycle. If the switch was maintained closed, open it and then close it again after the cycle is complete. Keeping the switch closed does not provide a new closure for the next cycle.
TDI timer relay specifications

| Specified reset times | 100 ms before time out; 50 ms after time out. |
| Recycle time | 40 ms. |
| Power consumption | Approximately 3 W. |
| Operating temperature | 32° to 131°F (0° to 55°C). |
Selecting a TDI model
Match the part number to the supply voltage, adjustment method, enclosure and required timing range:
- Supply code: 24 for 24 VAC/DC; 120 for 110/120 VAC/DC.
- Adjustment: K for knob adjustable, L for lock nut adjustable, or F for fixed timing.
- Enclosure: A for 11-pin round plug-in, or B for blade plug-in. Match the timer to the correct socket.
- Timing: Confirm the range for the selected part number and both required OFF and ON settings. Adjustable versions allow the two periods to be set independently.
| Published ordering example | Verified timing range |
|---|---|
| TDI-120-ALA-300 | 3 to 300 seconds; 120 VAC/DC, lock nut adjustable, 11-pin round plug-in. |
The 3 to 300 second range applies to this datasheet ordering example. Other TDI part numbers may have different timing ranges. Review the TDI specification sheet for wiring, dimensions and ordering details, or contact ATC at 304-387-1200 for model selection.
Standard vs. delayed single shot timers
With supply voltage continuously applied, both types respond to an external isolated control switch. The difference is when the output energizes after that switch closes.
| Timer | Output sequence | When to select |
|---|---|---|
| TDI delayed single shot | Waits through T1, energizes for T2, then switches OFF. | A delay is needed before the timed output. |
| TDE/TUE standard single shot | Energizes immediately when the control switch closes, then switches OFF when the timed period ends. | The timed output must begin immediately. |
